Looking at the lighter side of Active Ageing
Posted: January 30, 2013 Filed under: Grundtvig, Lifelong Learning Programme | Tags: active ageing, Ecorys, grundtvig, Lifelong Learning Programme, llp, Partnerships Leave a comment »Is laughter is the best medicine? It certainly seems to be for one of our projects. Health and Humour through the Arts for Seniors, or more often known by their snappy acronym, the HAHA project, looks at the lighter side of active ageing by focussing on humour techniques as a form of health education; using laughter as an antidote to stress and as an aid to promote relaxation and improve the self confidence and general well being of its participants. Recently I spoke to Norma Raynes from Intergen about the inspiration behind the laughter:
As the number of older Europeans increase, there is a need to find new ways of improving the quality of life of older learners and enhancing active ageing. The health benefits that laughter brings are well-known and I was interested in creating a project on this theme, whilst also finding out what promotes laughter in different cultures – so, the HAHA project was born.
Supporting the UK…. part four
Posted: January 22, 2013 Filed under: Grundtvig, Leonardo, Lifelong Learning Programme, Transversal | Tags: Ecorys, grundtvig, leonardo, Lifelong Learning Programme, llp, Supporting UK, transversal Leave a comment »Each year we produce a series of publications showing how the Leonardo, Grundtvig and Transversal programmes provide funding for projects and activities all around the UK. These publications are sent directly to elected policymakers and key stakeholders to help raise their awareness of the good work done by the programmes in their country. This year, we would like to share them with you on our blog.
This is the final post of the series, looking this time at how programme funding is benefiting organisations in England.

Last month eight organisations running Leonardo Mobility projects attended a free workshop in Birmingham, organised as part of ECVET Experts, to find out how they can recognise their learners’ achievements using ECVET principles. These are largely students involved in initial vocational training or work-based learning. Anyone involved in Leonardo Mobility can use ECVET principles in their projects. Read the rest of this entry »

Season’s Greetings and Best Wishes for the New Year

Guiding you through…

We want to support you all on your funding journey and help more of you to share the stories and impacts from your projects.
That’s why we have overhauled four of our Guidance Notes, to bring our advice right up to date. As well as programme information, these guides contain some useful programme team hints and tips. We have also included new case studies and a range of project tips, written by you, for you.
Learning Together is a guide to working with European partners and includes tips for managing your partnership and ideas for monitoring your activities. It is particularly relevant for people taking part in the Leonardo and Grundtvig programmes; however there are some useful ideas relevant to everyone involved or thinking about getting involved with any area of the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP).
Our online Information Day is now available!
Posted: December 17, 2012 Filed under: Grundtvig, Leonardo, Lifelong Learning Programme, Transversal | Tags: Ecorys, grundtvig, information days, leonardo, Lifelong Learning Programme, llp, transversal Leave a comment »Over the last few months, the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) team have been busy with our Information Days, spreading the good word of funding and offering guidance, advice and hints and tips to budding project managers! From Glasgow to Brighton, we have been meeting with hundreds of participants as you attended our Taster Sessions and took part in our Workshops.
I am very excited about this opportunity. I can’t believe I’ve not accessed this funding before. I can see this funding support staff development as well as helping us with our informal learning support work.

Supporting Wales
Deeside College in North Wales is just one of the organisations benefitting from funding provided by the Leonardo, Grundtvig and Transversal programmes.
Engineering apprentices from East Wales enhanced their professional skills in papermaking whilst undertaking work placements in Germany, thanks to a Leonardo da Vinci Mobility project run by Deeside College. To increase the benefits of their work placement the apprentices undertook German language and cultural training. The placement gave them the opportunity to widen their skills and improve their future prospects. Read the rest of this entry »

I’ll be blogging in more detail about the awards in the next few weeks as I’d like to share with you the personal stories that make the programme what it is, for now, I’d like to leave you with the winners:

Posted: November 13, 2012 Filed under: Thematic Networking | Tags: Ecorys, ECVET, ECVET Experts, education, Europe, european commission, Leonardo Mobility, Lifelong Learning Programme, thematic networking, vocational education 1 Comment »Recently we wrote about our forthcoming Thematic Networking event. At each of these events we invite a range of decision-makers and education professionals from across the UK to attend and look in detail at recent policy developments during the day.
As part of each event we hold a series of workshop sessions that look, in detail, at four cross-cutting themes. The discussions during these workshops will inform future decisions with the wider professional networks of the group, both in the UK and across Europe. While attendance at these events is by invitation only, everyone who recieves funding from our projects can still get involved by reading, and disseminating, the outcomes from the event.
